but the shots i choose are the ones that are more abstracted. they have a deeper meaning to me; i know that grandma is sitting in her chair behind us, that the family is gathered, that this is the last time i saw her as i knew her my whole life. i know that those hands holding tibi are troy's and i love how he holds on.
sometimes the way visual stories are open is exactly what i want-- i want things ambiguous, i want the viewer to finish the story-- but sometimes i feel like i'm falling over myself to fill in the details.
